OriginsIs it a mechanical phenomenon ? Snoring occurs during sleep on breathing in but can also occur during part of breathing out. The more the tissue is relaxed or the more difficult the air passage is, the greater the risk of snoring. This is caused by narrowing of the airways at the oropharynx. Snoring results from vibration of the nasopharyngeal soft tissue (soft palate, base of the tongue, walls of the throat). It can also be worsened by fatigue, alcohol intake, smoking or even excess weight. |
